Skin Prep 101 ft. Courtney

Lets shift our lens and talk about... makeup!

One of the biggest makeup mistakes I see people make is the lack of skin prep to ready that skin to be introduced to makeup.

It doesn't matter what foundation you're using, powder or any of that if your skin isn't prepped correctly.

This is Courtney, she shared with me that her skin runs very dry in the winter. She also told me what she currently does for her skin, which included cleansing, moisturizing and high frequency.

High frequency (even though it is AMAZING for your skin) can be drying, so I knew I would have to use a couple of products to really pump/hydrate that skin before placing makeup on it.

The first step was to exfoliate the surface using a cotton pad and the Embryolisse Crème Concentré. This helped to loosen the dead skin and push the product into the skin.

Then I toned to remove any excess product and balance the skins pH levels.

Then I reapplied the Embryolisse cream, and instead of using it to exfoliate I used it as a moisturizer, followed by spot treating areas of extreme dryness with the Weleda Skin Food.

The last steps were to spray with the Cinema Secrets Moisture Spray, then with the Cinema Secrets Setting Spray to prime the skin. Then the makeup was applied.

Being sure to properly prep the skin helps to diminish any possibilities that the skin could grip to the dry/dead skin and give the face a congested and dry/cakey look.

You can always edit the skin on apps for social media etc, but you can't edit out the cakey skin in real life.

Prepping the skin also helps the foundation and other products to sit correctly on top of the skin, as makeup is designed to never to actually be absorbed into the skin.

I will list a gallery of the products below that are my current go to for dry skin.

Thanks so much for reading!
